About Artist
Fiorella Iacono
Fiorella Iacono was born in Modena where she lives. She graduated in Philosophy with a thesis on the poetics of William Burroughs. She collaborated with the newspaper Il Manifesto dealing with contemporary art. She catalogued the photographs of Cesare Leonardi for the Atlas of the Modena Cathedral (Panini, 1985) on the occasion of “When the cathedrals were white”. She has participated in photographic exhibitions including Fotografia Europea in Reggio Emilia (Beareble Lightness, 2011; Goli Otok, 2014; Foresta Primitiva, 2015; Sentiero Terrestre, 2016, Numi, 2017. Microtopie, 2018) and in collective exhibitions (Lands, 2014, Spazio On/Off Parma; Heim, Spazio Home; 2014; Contrasti, 2015, Villa Benvenuti, Modena). In 2015 she presented Providence, a video installation at the WoPa Contemporary Parma and made the docu-film Nella foresta delle immagini selected at the Boddinale Film Festival in Berlin. In 2016 she presented Numi in Genoa, at the Studio Incantations and created a photographic documentation project for the Lenz Foundation inside the Napoleonic San Francesco prison in Parma for the Autodafé show. In 2017 she exhibited at the Gate 26A Gallery in Modena and documented, as curator of the photographic image for site- specific creations, the theatrical performances Purgatorio (Crocery ex Ospedale Vecchio formerly State Archives of Parma), Paradiso (North Bridge of Parma) and Il grande teatro del mondo (Farnese Theater of Parma). Studio su ghiaccio e ombre (2018) is present in the video art exhibition La superficie accidentata at Fourteenart Tellaro curated by Gino D'Ugo. (May 2019). In 2019 she presented Autodafé in Verona (Grenze Arsenali Fotografici) and Meditazioni in Rome at La Camera Verde. In 2020 she presented Macchine-Fiumi-Stati di Natura in Modena at the Spazio CaOs and Fantasie Oscure at the LabArt in Reggio Emilia on the occasion of Autunno Fotografico Reggiano. In Parma, in 2021, at the Lenz Fondazione Autodafè at the conclusion of the Artist Residency and Foresta Primitiva at Riaperture, Ferrara. In 2021 she participated in a workshop with Luca Panaro publishing the dummy “Leccare un sogno” (Chippendale Studio Milano). In 2022, for Fotografia Europea, she exhibited Incanto, at the Libreria del Portone and Lo Stato delle cose in Bologna at the Galleria B4. In 2023 Atlantico at Fotografia Euoropea Off. In 2024 she exhibited at Fotografia Europea Off Apparenze Assolute, in Rome at Tralevolte Tito magnifico arcere and in Lugano at Artphilein Bookshop Lo Stato delle cose.
