About Artist

Oscar Amoros

To begin and be able to introduce and understand the concept of this series of photographs and most of my work, it is appropriate to define the term “Analogy.“ “Analogy is the relationship of resemblance between different things,” and this concept serves as the foundation that supports my creativity. I always play with the senses, offering the viewer new and different sensations from what they perceive. I have a profound fascination with creating perplexity in the viewer when they uncover the sensory deception within his work. I’ve got a keen ability to find beauty in every corner, carefully observing and appreciating the objects that surround us. Despite their age, brokenness, or abandonment, I recognize their intrinsic beauty, their history, the experiences they hold, and the marks left by the passage of time. I describe myself as 50% artist and 50% anarchist, my mind is constantly ablaze with creative thoughts throughout the day. As an industrial designer, I’m enamored with everyday objects and their aesthetic appeal. I embrace the freedom of creativity, disregarding rules and norms. Each photograph I capture carries its own unique concept, and with every series, I venture onto a new path, constantly seeking fresh avenues to explore. Blue Sea Abstract analogies have been my passion for many years, I enjoy playing with the senses and taking photographs that convey a completely different sensation from the reality of the photograph… From here, the concept applied to the series “Blue Sea” was born… seeing wood and feeling water, seeing stillness and feeling movement… The series “Blue Sea” is composed of 5 photographs of details of a door in Cadaqués that, through analogy, convey the sensation of the sea and the rhythm of its waves. An abstraction awarded with a first prize in Abstract Photography at the INTERNATIONAL PHOTOGRAPHY AWARDS (IPA 2007) in the Fine Art/Abstract category. Invited to the awards ceremony at LINCOLN CENTER, NEW YORK, October 2007… About Oscar Amorós I’m Oscar AMORÓS, and known as l’Amorós. I was born in Sabadell in 1967. Since 2000, I’ve been living in the most beautiful village in the world, CADAQUÉS. Like many artists before him, I’ve been captivated by the force of the “tramuntana,” the magic of its light, the songs of sirens from Cucurucuc at night, and above all, by the inherent creativity that is breathed in every corner. From 2003 to 2011, I ran the Amorós Photo Gallery, where I exhibited my photographs and visual work, focusing on abstract photographic art, particularly on analogies. It was a period of national and international awards and recognition. My references are Marcel Duchamp and his fantastic “Ready-mades” and his philosophy, where he defends a simple everyday object as an artistic object worthy of being exhibited in a museum. I also admires Salvador Dalí for his endless imagination and constant work, Richard Hamilton for his eye as an industrial designer, and Joan Brossa for his visual poetry. In these times when there is a new guest at dinner, Mrs. AI, “artificial intelligence,” a moral dilemma arises. Technology itself is perfect and thus creates perfections, but Art is full of imperfections, mistakes, analogies, and subliminal messages. Art is, therefore, fundamental, or rather, artistic creativity is essential for living. Our society needs human creativity, the poetic vision of our life and environment, the feelings we remember when we close our eyes, ultimately, feeling our existence. All of this is in danger of extinction. We must “Amoros” look at everything that surrounds us, enjoy the imperfection of life and its hidden wonders. In summary, I only try to share how I see what I see.
