Deniz Ozuygur is a Turkish American artist raised in Manhattan and currently based in Istanbul, whose work weaves together themes of identity, cultural heritage, and motherhood. Ozuygur's artistic practice is defined by her eclectic use of materials and her wide range of mediums. Working in sculpture, mixed media, ceramics, printmaking, photography and video, she integrates domesticity into her work through collaborations with her children and grandmother as well as through the use of materials such as toys, baby clothes, beads, tampons, brooms, dust and tea.
Ozuygur has a BFA from NYU (2009) where she was awarded the Jack Goodman Scholarship for Art and Technology. Her work has been exhibited at venues such as Art On gallery in Istanbul, David Benrimon Fine Art in NYC, 7Eleven Gallery in Miami, Scala Mata Gallery in Venice and the Art Moves Festival in Poland. She has received coverage from Time Out New York Magazine, NBC News, Wired UK, and Gizmodo.
