About Artist
Wendy Kappy
Wendy Kappy is an abstract art photographer based in New Mexico. Her work focuses on nature and the effects of nature and human action on surfaces in the built environment. She sees unexpected art, beauty, and meaning in the breakdown of materials found in salvage yards, rail yards, dumpsters, walls, parking lots, streets, sidewalks, gutters, and alleyways. For Wendy, finding art and beauty in decay is redemptive. It tells her that beauty can be found almost anywhere, helping shape her beliefs about the world, life, and our humanity. While some of Wendy’s images are purely abstract—focusing on form and the elements of design, other images are more surreal and interpretive, evoking stories and recognizable imagery from our waking and dreaming life. Her images are intriguing, engaging viewers’ imaginations to form interpretations of their own.
