About Artist
Melanie Welling
Melanie Welling was born in Lower Saxony and grew up with a deep, innate connection to the natural world. Today, she lives in the Lüneburger Heide, where the vast landscapes and quiet atmospheres profoundly shape her photographic work. While she has been photographing for over a decade, she has dedicated herself to her passion with renewed intensity over the past year, utilizing professional equipment to refine her craft. Although she is fascinated by macro and astrophotography, it is within the expanse of the landscape that she finds her strongest artistic expression. For Melanie, photography is more than just capturing a moment—it is a pause between two breaths. Following personal hardships, she rediscovered her sense of self through the strength and tranquility of nature. This deep bond is reflected in every frame she captures. Her work invites the viewer to look closer and discover beauty in the subtle and often overlooked. Through her photography, she aims to strengthen our collective awareness of the value and protection of our environment. Her talent was recently recognized in a Photocrowd online competition, where she placed fifth out of 100 entries and received special commendation from the expert jury. Furthermore, in 2026, Melanie Welling was awarded the People’s Vote Award at the International Color Photography Contest by the 1839 Awards.
