Kind of Waits

Plants waiting for the rain, bees waiting for the nectar of flowers, herbivores waiting for the grass to grow. Carnivores waiting for those herbivores, chairs waiting for someone to sit down, machines waiting to be activated, people waiting for birth, and deaths waiting for humans.

About Artist

Won Jang

I shoot with a film camera (not for any particular reason, but because I happened to receive a film camera as a keepsake). I understand that a so-called “good” photograph often embodies a harmonious interplay of perfect light, shadow, composition, and so on. The world is filled with breathtaking images and razor-sharp clarity (but those rarely capture my heart). I'm captivated by the unconventional: compositions that defy norms, light landing not on the subject but in unexpected corners. I may never receive the validation I desire—but perhaps it’s precisely that imperfection that draws me in even more. Unintended light and color, fleeting, serendipitous moments. Regrets and mistakes—these resonate more deeply with my life’s cadence. A cascade of failures and setbacks—maybe the world isn’t as beautiful as we once expected. Yet in those imperfect moments, there lies a kind of story. With each frame I capture, I hold a personal hope—that one day, someone may perceive it as a narrative in their mind. I yearn for my photographs to spark someone's imagination. I intend to take as many photographs as I can before I die (because after that, I won’t be able to take any more). In the end, perhaps all that remains, somewhere, are the photographs. 2024 ND awards - (Analog / film Series - Honorable mention Amateur) 2024 SQUARE ART NEW YORK (The art of color) - selected for an exhibition. 2024 B&W Athens photography - selected for an exhibition. 2024 GOLDEN SHOT international photography awards (Street Series - Honorable Mention) 2024 LENSCRATCH the favorite photograph you took in 2024 exhibition part4 2024 FINE ART PHOTOGRAPHY AWARDS (Street Series Photography - Nominee) 18th International Color Awards - (People – Nominees Amateur) 2025 MONOVISIONS Black&White photography awards (Street Series - Honorable Mention) 2025 IPA International Photography Awards (Street Series- Honorable Mention Amateur) 2025 PX3 Prix de la Photographie Paris (Special / Street- Series- Honorable Mention )
