Pears of Possibility

Illustrating the transformative power of positive thinking by blending the real with the imaginary, a girl stands in an overgrown garden. She uses her belief to make pears grow larger than life while others defy gravity; illustrating that with determination, we can achieve the extraordinary.

About Artist

Laura Abbott

Laura Antonia Abbott is a British, Fine Art and Conceptual Photographer, with a multi disciplinary artistic background who has lived on five continents. Laura spent her childhood years living in Africa, Australia, the Caribbean, Europe and Asia which gave her an early appreciation for diverse cultures and a love for the natural world. These experiences framed her passion for photography and storytelling. She is inspired by the work of Guy Bordin, Tim Walker and Anna Gaskell. Laura’s work is rich in symbolism. Surrealist dreamscapes emerge from her visual imagery; influenced by her poetic observations of the world and human encounters. Recurrent themes that frequent her work are the search for female identity, threats to the natural world and mental health. Laura constructs her images primarily on location with rich colours and handmade props created from recycled materials. Having lived the most recent five years in Singapore, she is now based in Lisbon. Laura completed her photographic studies at Chelsea College of Art & Design, Nottingham Trent University in the UK and Bellas Artes in Spain. She is a multi award-winning photographer who has exhibited in various group exhibitions around the globe.
