Red seahorse

Those seahorses tend to be tough models. I was lucky to find this model so well-arranged and easily accessible. I wanted to see the seahorse's profile against a red backlight, taking advantage of its own color, recognizing its spines among the other seaweed, and illuminating its body with a snoot.

About Artist

Toni Bertran

I was born in Sabadell, near Barcelona, 49 years ago, and for over 20 years I've been working in audiovisuals as a director, camera operator, and editor. I started diving in 2010, but it wasn't until 2017 that I decided to pick up a camera underwater. I imagine that, given my job, the normal thing would have been to take underwater videos, but instead, I was drawn to underwater photography. Thanks to living very close to the water, unless bad weather doesn´t allow it, I dive every weekend in the coast of Catalonia, always accompanied by my camera. And the best thing is that the Mediterranean Sea never ceases to amaze me in every dive.
