About Artist

Pavlo Fyshar

orn in 1990 in Shostka city, Ukraine. As a child, I was fond of researching and collecting insects, and now this passion is reflected in my work. And the very acquaintance with photography happened gradually: starting with macro photography of flowers, landscapes with the help of a little soapy canon. Later, I switched to portraiture, photographing beautiful girls, mostly with freckles. In such shootings, I most often used a complementary combination of colors. If we talk about the latest shootings with butterflies, beetles, mirrors and pastel colors, these works were made in Kyiv after the war, from May to October 2022. During this period, I was convinced from my own experience how the internal visual perception of a person, the ability to absorb ideas from referents and events in the life of the country and the reflection of this perception in creative works are shaped by external factors: habitat, discomfort, lack of familiar things, unusual rhythm of life, internal sensations from what is happening in the country. In the actual series of works, which illustrates the same sensations and at the same time abstraction from the news, there is alienation, facelessness, a shift in emphasis from a person to surrounding objects and lifeless forms edging emotionless faces, closeness from the environment. The works are filled with contrasts of soft and hard, heavy and light, angular and smooth. The main characters look like prisoners of mirrors without reflections, which emphasises the feeling of loneliness and the dissonance of form and content.
