Biography & Artist Statement
Marc Rouhbakhsh is an Iranian-born visual artist and photographer based in Paris. His artistic practice lies
at the intersection of street photography, visual narrative, and the emotional documentation of human
existence.
Marc's work explores the invisible borders between the inner and outer world — between silence and
chaos, light and shadow, solitude and belonging. Having lived between Tehran and Paris, he observes the
subtle poetry of everyday life through a reflective and often melancholic lens. His photographs are not
mere moments captured but fragments of emotional truth - echoes of dreams, memories, and human
resilience.
Marc's visual language is rooted in contrast: the interaction of darkness and light becomes a metaphor for
the contradictions of modern life. He sees photography not only as an act of seeing but as an act of feeling
- an intimate translation of life's invisible weight into visible form. His long-term series Tired Tehran and
The Invisible Veil / Invisible Border combine personal reflection with universal emotion revealing the fragile
relationships between people and the urban world around them.
