About Artist
Lenka Klicperová
Journalist and photographer. She started as a news reporter and from 2004 to 2018 she ran the People and Earth magazine. She has travelled across Africa, working in dozens of countries from Angola to the Democratic Republic of Congo. She has visited Afghanistan several times as a reporter. She also got to Somalia, plagued by a long-running war. In 2014, she began covering the war with the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria. She then focused on the war in Nagorno-Karabakh and has been covering that conflict since 2022, the first day of the Russian invasion. Since 2018, she has been working as a freelance reporter, collaborating with major Czech publishing houses and TV stations. Her photo also appeared on the cover of the American magazine Bloomberg Businessweek. In 2020, she was included in the prestigious Women Photograph database, including the best female photographers from all over the world. Her profile can also be found on the American All About Photo website. She has been a finalist several times in competitions organized by the prestigious Lens Culture website, and in 2023 she won the Critic`s Choice award. She has won many other Czech and international awards. She is the co-author of several documentaries (Tears of the Congo, Latim - Circumcised, Iraqi Women, Women in the Land of the Taliban, Unbroken) and a number of TV reports and ten books. She also lectures at the University of Hradec Kralove. She lives permanently in Prague.
