About Artist
Ingrid Ponnet
Ingrid Ponnet (Belgium) Ingrid Ponnet, living in Flanders, Belgium, studied orthopedagogy and dedicated her professional life to supporting individuals with intellectual and multiple disabilities. Through this work, she developed a deep sensitivity for the vulnerability, resilience and quiet presence of the human being — an insight that later became the emotional foundation of her fine-art photography. Although photography had always been part of her life, it was only about fifteen years ago that it evolved into a true calling. Strongly drawn to black-and-white fine art, Ingrid uses architecture, urban space and light not merely as subjects, but as stages where the small human figure finds its place within a greater whole — but only when you bring it into view. Minimalism, geometry, silence and contrast are recurring elements in her compositions. Her images often convey stillness, contemplation and the poetic tension between structure and vulnerability. Ingrid’s work has been exhibited in several venues, including the church of Ressegem, Kasteel Borluut, and as a guest photographer at the Fotoclub Sint-Niklaas. She was awarded second prize in a photography competition by Cameranu in the Netherlands, and in 2025 her work was selected for the Grid Photo Gallery Black & White Exhibition. Her photographic journey continues to evolve, always seeking the delicate balance between form, light and human presence. Quote “Silence, light and structure reveal their deepest meaning when the human presence quietly enters the frame.” Message to the viewer Through her images, Ingrid invites the viewer to pause, reflect and discover how even the smallest presence can speak volumes within a vast architectural world.
