Carved time
Carved Time explores the passage of time symbolized by botanical sculptures. An imagined scientism as part of the investigation of a temporary physiology. A rescue, deconstruction of the perfect. The degradation reveals a new existence to the journey, not the destination.
About Artist
Flavia Sampaio
Flavia Sampaio, a major in communications, has worked for the main Brazilian newspapers, Folha de S. Paulo, Estado de S. Paulo and Reuters agency. She has been developing photography projects for six years, with an emphasis on investigating memory and the passage of time and its transfigurations. In her projects, she uses captured images and vernacular photographs. She has participated in various calls for proposals and his work has been featured in national and international exhibitions, including the group show at the Iberê Camargo Foundation in Porto Alegre, Brazil. She was a finalist for the best photobook dummy award at the Imaginária Festival in 2022. She develops poems motivated by her photographic projects. She is guided by researcher and curator Daniel Salum. Exhibitions and Publications 2025 Carvedtime photobook is launched Stage of Contrasts is presented as an artist's book at the collective exhibition “Between Us”at the Lovely House bookstore in São Paulo. 2024 An excerpt from the project The Ropes of the Swing Pending to the Avocado Tree is converted into an artist's book titled Memory Without Pair, which participates in the collective exhibition at the El Rule Cultural Center in Mexico and at the Página Gallery in São Paulo.
