About Artist

Paul Stretton-Stephens

Paul Stretton-Stephens, a true artist of the waves, captures the essence of coastal life through his incredible photography. His heart beats in tune with the tides, drawing peace and inspiration from the endless beauty of the ocean and its surrounding shores. Paul’s artistic path has been one of discovery and learning. Inspired by the rich traditions of indigenous art, he has explored Aboriginal workshops, the vibrant galleries of Santa Fe, and the cultural and coastal echoes of Mauritius, Australia, and Spain. Each of these influences brings depth and texture to his work. His photography is a stunning dance of light and shadow—vivid, contemporary, and full of life. Paul dreams of seeing his art displayed on walls across the globe, connecting people through the universal language of creativity. Born in Nottingham, a land of legends, and raised by the sea in Portsmouth, Paul’s journey has always been intertwined with the coast. From his time in the armed forces to his work in the studio, his passion for capturing coastal landscapes has only grown stronger. Guided by his love of “Coastal Life,” Paul’s photography celebrates the timeless beauty and energy of the sea. His images capture everything from the roar of crashing waves to the gentle whisper of a sea breeze, offering a fresh perspective on the endless wonders of coastal living. Paul’s story is as rich and varied as the ocean’s hues. From serving in the military to mentoring others as a coach, he’s always stayed true to his artistic calling. Through life’s highs and lows, including eight years of sight loss, his commitment to his craft has remained a guiding light. Now settled in the peaceful seaside town of Exmouth, Devon, Paul's studio becomes his sanctuary, a refuge where he tends to both his craft and his beloved wife Lesley, who lives with dementia. His fine art photography, a reflection of his soul's journey, resonates with the very essence of coastal living. Each of Paul’s creations reflects the ocean’s soul—dynamic yet calming, wild yet peaceful. His work offers viewers a window into moments of seaside tranquillity and adventure, inviting them to embark on their journeys of discovery.
