Color fest
This photo shows crystals of polyethylene glycol (the same one used to treat constipation ) observed under the microscope with polarized light. The colors in the photo are known as interface colors and depend on the orientation of the polarizers and the thickness of the crystals.
About Artist
José Manuel Martínez López
Hey there! I'm an electromechanical engineer with a MSc in production engineering. I started my career working on drive systems design and finite element analysis. Since 2010, I've been running my own company, Quimica Tech, where I work as an operations manager and microscopy specialist. When people ask me what I do, I like to say that I play with microscopes and teach others how to make the most of their microscopes. My micrographs have been recognized and exhibited by institutions such as the Microscopy Society of America, Royal Microscopy Society, Optica (OSA), BioCommunication Association, American Chemical Society, and the Asociación Mexicana de Microscopía y Micro-análisis.
