Dancing vulnerability at flamenco tempo

This series is part of a larger project that aims to collect emotions danced on stage during live performances, as a search for vulnerability and its unfiltered expression. The aim is to let people reflect on living our uniqueness and vulnerability free from the expectations of others.

About Artist

Valentina Benigni

Valentina Benigni, born in Italy in 1982, is a professional photographer based in France, specialized in fine art photography. She started photography with silver cameras at the age of 5, but made it her profession in 2020, in the midst of a pandemic. Ex-dancer, she now likes to capture the emotions of dancing on stage. Her limited-edition (up to 5 or 10 copies), signed and numbered fine art photographs are regularly exhibited in France and abroad: these exhibitions have enabled her to get known, particularly for her work on flamenco. In 2022 she self-published her first art book with a selection of these flamenco photographs, LUZ FLAMENCA. From 2023 onwards, her flamenco fine art photography has been recognized in prestigious international competitions (Europe, USA, Canada, Japan), winning more than 80 awards. With 30 exhibitions in 4 years, Valentina's limited edition art prints are regularly displayed around the world: Europe, the United States (New York, Miami), Beijing, Dubai, and more. As an artist, the numerous exhibitions around the world and the prestigious international awards she has won have quickly established her as an emerging artist recognized worldwide. Photographic approach Her photographic approach takes the literal meaning of the word “photography” - writing with light - and develops into “painting with light”. Despite technological advancement, she's true to the purist approach to photography technique: 3 parameters to be changed manually, her creativity remains in the moment of photo-shoot and not later on the computer. She likes to transcribe movement and bring emotions to life, going beyond the very principle of photography as a static frame: the idea is for that moment to be unique and unrepeatable, not posed, but equally able to convey movement and take the viewer on a journey.
