Daughter of the Dressmaker
I met a mother & daughter as I visited a local market near Laikipia, Kenya. The mother was making clothes to be sold there while her daughter played near her treadle sewing machine. I learned to sew on a treadle machine too, so,, we talked about sewing with the help of my Masai guide, William.
About Artist
Nancy Chadwick
I’m Nancy Chadwick, a fine art photographer based in Northern California. Before devoting myself fully to photography, I spent more than four decades as a psychotherapist in private practice, developing a deep sensitivity to the layers of meaning that shape how we perceive the world. Whether capturing landscape, wildlife, or fleeting moments, I seek to reveal not only what is seen, but what is felt. Photography is a tool I use to observe and preserve what feels meaningful, wherever I am.
