About Artist

Michel Braunstein

For 40 years, Michel Braunstein has traveled the globe, capturing the beauty and mystery of the underwater world. His photography spans some of the most extraordinary and challenging environments on Earth—including the world’s deepest diving pool, the hypersaline waters of the Dead Sea, and even beneath the ice. Michel has documented rare and elusive marine species in their natural habitats, such as pink dolphins, orcas, and many more. His journey into underwater photography began with a rented camera, soon after he got the iconic Nikonos V film camera. Since the early 2000s, he has embraced digital photography, continuously upgrading his DSLR systems and underwater housings to keep pace with evolving technology. While underwater photography is his greatest passion, Michel is also drawn to photojournalism. His curiosity and drive often take him far from home to capture stories unfolding all over. Michel regularly publishes photo articles on his diving adventures in international magazines. Though photography is not his primary profession, he balances his creative work with a successful career as a computer engineer.
