About Artist
Morissa Pawl-Frederico
Wildlife, cultural, and travel photographer Morissa Pawl-Frederico is drawn to the places most people never think to go: the jungles of Madagascar and Borneo, the deserts of the Middle East, the far reaches of northeastern Greenland, and Antarctica. For her, getting off the beaten track is essential to finding the planet’s most elusive creatures and cultures. Morissa’s award-winning work has been published in print and online magazines. Though she is at home in any wild place, the polar regions hold a special pull. Trekking across the tundra with a full pack of gear, Morissa feels a rush of energy and a sense of belonging found nowhere else. Morissa comes from a long line of successful photographers including her brother, who was an Air Force photographer during Vietnam, and her grandfather, who was a well-known photographer in the 1930’s and 1940’s. Based in Portland, Oregon, Morissa shares life with her spouse and two Yorkies, and is usually planning the next expedition.
