Main bathing day, Kumbh Mela, February 2013
Crowds descended on the banks of the Ganges on the most auspicious (for Hindus) main bathing day at the Kumbh Mela gathering in February 2013 just before sunrise. The crowd was estimated to be in many hundreds of thousands and every member of it seemed intent on taking a spiritually healing dip.
