Obscured Vision
This series contrasts traditional visions of male beauty with various strange, absurd, or disturbing accessories that "blind" the models to the world around them. The accessories are all unique, handmade by the photogrpaher.
About Artist
Evan Butterfield
Evan Butterfield's photographic work has evolved over the years from elaborate Steampunk characters to a more strange and unique style that defies strict genre classification. Combining the artfully erotic with dark fantasy and the absurd, the natural with the artificial, Evan uses antique, unusual, and found objects to create the unique and intriguing masks, headpieces, and eyewear that define his odd and slightly disturbing world. Evan is the author of several books, including The Male Gaze (a collection of his photography) and Copyright for Creatives: A Practical Guide to Copyright Law for Creative People Who Make Stuff (2nd Edition), a non-photographic work that leverages Evan’s past professional experience as a publisher, lawyer, and teacher to explain intellectual property law in an engaging, informative, and accessible way for artists, musicians, writers, crafters, online creators, and hobbyists. Evan lives in Las Vegas, Nevada, with his husband and a cat.
