About Artist
Kevin Cloughley
Light has inspired me from a very young age. One of my earliest memories around the quality of light was watching its color change as the sun set through window blinds. After an extended period as a theatrical lighting designer I was drawn to photography for its ability to capture one of an infinite number of oftentimes glossed over inspired moments. Well that, and I get to play with light, and focus, and depth of field, and framing. I originally thought I'd be a landscape photographer, because I love spending time in the wilderness backpacking to beautiful places. The more time I spent out in the wilderness with my camera though, the more I was drawn to find those moments that no one else saw -- the ones that were overlooked. Even now when I'm out photographing, people walk by and ask, "What do you see?" For me, that's magic. I get to show an unseen, passed by world, or show the world in a never before seen way. And I get to use light to create create my art. It's truly fun and sometimes scary to think that I have literally one or a couple shots. So I'd better get it right. I hope you enjoy the images that capture my unique view of the world when I'm out in the wilderness. I also hope they inspire you to see and notice a bit more in your travels there as well.
