Somatic Nebula

Inspired by my "scar-prone" body, I treat skin traces as psychophysical evidence. Using microscopy and drone photography, I map dermal scars onto celestial charts, echoing "Man as Microcosm." These circles mirror life’s paradox: seeking infinite meaning within a finite, recurring fate.

About Artist

Zhao Mengjia

Zhao Mengjia (b. 2000, Hangzhou, China) B.A. and M.F.A., China Academy of Art. Zhao Mengjia’s practice spans photography, experimental moving images, and installation art, exploring the nuances of individual perception between the mundane and the ephemeral. Within ambiguous visual fields, she reconstructs the intricate relationships between the body, emotion, and time. By integrating natural materials to enhance the materiality and tactility of the medium, Zhao transforms her creative process into a ritual of self-healing, restoring peace and order within the inner world amidst the crevices of reality and reverie.
