The Plunge
Zadar, Croatia: teenagers launched from a diving board in endless rotation while one boy lay still, eyes on the sky. Crouching beside him with the Ricoh GR4, I caught a candid moment as the sun carved his profile and a diver hung overhead. Two frames, then he stirred. Stillness amid motion.
About Artist
Adam Davis
Adam Davis is a photographer based in Norwich, UK, specialising in street photography and documentary storytelling. A background in the theatre trade taught him to read light and narrative. Just as no performance repeats twice, he has learned to find unscripted cues and fill the frame in everyday life. Not wedded to a single style, his work is a visual sketchbook: an ad-mix of portraits, street, and travel photography stretching from South America, across Europe and Asia, and closer to home in the coastal resort of Great Yarmouth. Travel has become central to his practice, engaging with fringe communities and urban landscapes to uncover vignettes of people’s lives that might otherwise go untold. He works fast, and his images are anything but staged. Feeding on short, pointed interactions and conversations with strangers, Adam brings a cinematic sense of timing and composition to the human aspects of daily life, building visual narratives that resonate on both personal and social levels.
