About Artist
Andrew Leontarou
Our world is a wondrous place. Beauty surrounds us, yet we are often oblivious to it, blinkered by the everyday demands of life in the 21st century. What began as a boy’s fascination with a Box Brownie camera 55 years ago has blossomed into a lifelong passion—a passion for capturing moments of light in their infinite and beautiful combinations. Andrew is an award-winning photographer who views the world as a place of endless wonder. He believes that beauty surrounds us, but too often goes unnoticed amidst the hustle of modern life. “Photography has been my sanctuary. It compels me to slow down, to pause, and to breathe in harmony with nature. It has heightened my awareness of the environment—the shifting sky, the rhythm of the sea, the sway of trees, the interplay of light, the music of life—and, most magically, the fleeting moments where the unseen reveals itself.” Growing up by the sea in Western Australia, Andrew spent countless summers and winters on Perth’s long, expansive beaches. The sand and surf were the backdrop to his teenage years, peppered with trips into the bush. To this day, he feels most at peace by the ocean, a connection that led him to the Central Coast of New South Wales 18 years ago, drawn by the raw power and serenity of the sea.
