The Trees
Because the fog was so thick and the landscape disappeared into the white, I started looking for details in the terrain. That’s when I found these two trees, their shapes echoing one another as if in silent conversation. Captured early in the morning at Riisitunturi National Park in Posio, Finland.
About Artist
Seppo Kerkelä
I am a Finnish nature and travel photographer, based in Vaasa on the west coast of Finland. At 59, I feel as if photography has been a lifelong companion — from my earliest days with a camera in hand to the more professional path I have followed in recent years. My studies in nature photography at Kuusamo College deepened not only my technical skills, but also my connection to the northern landscapes that continue to inspire me. I am most at home photographing wild, open scenery and the stories I encounter on my travels, yet I also enjoy working with clients on product photography when the opportunity arises. Each image, whether captured in a vast Arctic landscape or in a carefully lit studio, is my way of preserving moments that carry both beauty and memory. For me, photography is more than a profession — it is a way of seeing, of traveling through life with curiosity, patience, and gratitude.
