CARIAN is a fine art photography brand and travel culture publication by nomadic writer and photographer Henkjan Schrijver. Background In 2015 I left a corporate career in The Netherlands, started a solo company, bought a one-way ticket to Perth, Australia and didn't look back. I grew up with film cameras and picked up the digital variety to document my solo travels. Nowadays I mainly shoot digital with Sony Alpha and film with Hasselblad. Focus Travelling solo, I document the off-key scenes that fascinate me: everyday ironies in the street, dazzling light along the coast and sudden wildlife encounters deep in the mountains. With my work I want to encourage people to widen their field of view and explore the world around them.
