We Descend to Find the Sky
In Mayan tradition, cenotes were sacred places connected to the underworld. For these photographs, we descended into the Sian Ka’an cenote. Surrounded by silence, stone, and water, we found a form of paradise. There, we contemplated the moment, experienced the stillness, and explored the human form.
About Artist
Aldo Aguilar
I am a Mexican photographer with a background in business and innovation. My photography is driven by curiosity about people, places, and the experiences that shape the way we see the world. Over time, my work has shifted from simply trying to create beautiful images for marketing towards something more personal: understanding what a photograph can say about the experience of being human. I’m interested in creating images that feel alive and honest. Whether I am photographing a person, a landscape, or an unfamiliar place, I see photography as a way of preserving where we have been, what we have felt, and what it means to be human.
