Bio

Aeliane is a Dutch visual artist and photographer whose work is rooted in intuitive observation and a deep connection to nature and everyday life. She has been photographing since the age of twelve, using the camera as a way to register what she sees and experiences. Her practice is guided by instinct rather than planning: what begins as coincidence is never accidental. Working mainly outdoors, Aeliane is drawn to water, sky, light, and the quiet rhythms of familiar places. Composition and graphic balance play an important role in her images, creating a sense of stillness within movement. She often works in series, returning to the same locations over longer periods of time. Each year, she retreats alone to a small beach house in Kijkduin, where the silence and space allow for focused looking and reflection. Another recurring place in her work is the jetty at De Nieuwe Meer, a site of connection, play, and shared stillness. For Aeliane, photography is a way to hold on to moments of presence, happiness, and human connection, not to explain them, but to let them be felt.
