About Artist
Connie Chan
Connie Chan is a fine art photographer specialising in floral flatlays arranged by hand. Her direct and ordered styling of flowers highlights the beauty of imperfect everyday things. Born in Canada, Connie graduated from the Applied Photography program at Sheridan College, Toronto. She moved to Sydney in 2008 where she built a career in commercial photography, first in ecommerce and then specialising in studio-based product and stop-motion. She became known for her clean, crisp lighting and detailed flatlay compositions. In recent years, Connie stepped away from commercial work to raise her daughter. Motherhood changed how she valued time and creative purpose. She turned inward and back to the flatlay form, focusing on fine art photography. Connie's fine art practice centres on floral compositions arranged by hand on a bare surface. Working with fresh flowers brings an urgency to every session. The blooms wilt as she works, demanding her complete attention when building each image until the final composition emerges. The photos represent the beauty of an afternoon spent being fully present. Connie lives and works in Sydney, Australia.
