'Aura' combines elements gathered during a trip to the river with vintage backdrops. Natural and artificial forms merge to recreate a landscape that does not truly exist, yet feels ancient. Between water, plants, and colour, the images drift between memory and fabrication.

David Tortora & Jaime Travezán

TORTORA + TRAVEZAN is the working name of artist- photographers David Tortora and Jaime Travezan, who collaborate on a regular basis since 2009. Their work and style is variously described as 'anti-minimal', 'visually rich', 'ultra-real' and rely on extensive use of digital manipulation. David Tortora, born in Italy and Jaime Travezan, born in Peru, met in London in 2006 where Tortora worked as a designer and Travezan as a photographer. After an initial collaboration working on fashion editorials and portraiture, they started to focus on more personal projects embarked on a series of photographic investigations on the themes of sociocultural evolution, diversity and inclusion. The series Galatea (2013), was their first foray into fine art photography with a series of works exploring and combining the fields of nude and still life. TORTORA + TRAVEZAN have won much acclaim for their distinctive style of work, including awards such as: * Gold Medal at the 2023 Le Prix de la Photographie de Paris (PX3), Advertising: ‘The Rib, the Apple and the SIn’. * Gold Medal at the 2017 Le Prix de la Photographie deParis (PX3), Fine Arts: ‘Flora’. * Grand Winner at the 2016 Fine Art Photo Awards (FAPA): ‘Flora’. * Second Place at the 2016 Moscow International Foto Awards (MIFA), Advertising: ‘The Garden of Earthly Delights’. * Winner of the 2015 International Photography Awards (IPA), Food Advertising: ‘The Garden of Earthly Delights’. * Winner of the 2015 PDN Photo Annual, Personal Category: ‘Galatea’. * Silver Medal at the 2015 Le Prix de la Photographie de Paris (PX3), Book Category: ‘Mírame, Lima’. * Photographer of the Year nominee at the Lucie Awards 2014. * Advertising Photographer of the Year at the 2014 International Photography Awards (IPA), ‘Galatea’. * Winner of the 2014 PDN Photo Annual, Advertising: ‘Hotel B’. * First Place at the 2014 Le Prix de la Photographie de Paris (PX3), Fine Arts: ‘Galatea’. * Winner of the 2013 American Aperture Awards, Advertising: ‘Hotel B’. * Winner of the 2013 PDN Photo Annual, Personal Category: ‘Mírame, Lima’. * Work selected for exhibition at the National Portrait Gallery of London as part of the 2013 Taylor Wessing Photographic Portrait Prize: ‘Sea Men’ (Mírame, Lima Project). * Grand Winner of the 2012 See Me Awards for Photography: ‘Mírame, Lima’. * Work selected for exhibition at the National Portrait Gallery of London as part of the 2012 Taylor Wessing Photographic Portrait Prize: ‘Melquiadina and her Family’ (Mírame, Lima Project). * The book "Cocinas de Familia" was qualified for the Gourmand World Cookbook Awards 2012 in the category "Best Photography Book": ‘Cocinas de Familia’.
