Silent Solitude

Hidden in the darkness, a solitary seahorse meets my gaze. His expression feels almost sad, leaving me wondering what he was trying to say. In that quiet exchange I felt something tender, love, acceptance and trust. For a brief moment, the gap between our worlds disappeared, we simply saw one another

About Artist

Andrew King

Andrew King is an Australian underwater photographer drawn to the quiet stories hidden beneath the surface. His photography goes beyond simply documenting marine life, seeking instead to capture personality, emotion and presence within each subject. From the melancholy gaze of a solitary seahorse to the quiet confidence of a shark, Andrew is fascinated by the moments when an animal seems to acknowledge the person behind the camera. He believes every creature has its own presence and every encounter has a story waiting to be told. Through intimate portraits, dramatic light and the stillness of the underwater world, his work invites viewers to pause, look more closely and perhaps feel a connection with a life very different from their own.
